My weird-ness!

Oh new post! I had to get that hunting post up to 'show off' for Buck. Made him happy which translates into happy wife :)
In return, he is awful sweet to put up with me and my random tangents in life. This week, my fascination with Wal-Mart.

Yes, like most women... I love Target. I love the set up, I love the products. But I have quite the love-hate relationship with ol Wally World. I hate hate hate the crowd, especially when certain checks get paid out every month. I hate the rude people, carts that don't drive and having to search high and low for someone to help me find something. However, my heart flutters a little when I can save money- set a budget each month and STICK to it. I love low prices, and that I can spend an hour and a half once a month -stock up on everything we need and just call it good till next month. I love the one stop shop... (and no, SuperTarget is non-existant in our neck of the woods.)

In college, some of my business classes required extensive research on different corporations. I am one of the few that LOVED those assignments and projects. I often got carried away and had trouble drawing a line for the 'stop'. One of my favorites was Wal-Mart. I won't even start to bore you with everything I've dug up about the company- but the word 'fascinating' really sums up my feelings.

So, I just could not help myself when in January we had the opportunity to head out to Arkansas to visit my grandparents. (wonderfully good trip by the way- I'm so glad we got to go visit- I just wish it could be less between.. )

I couldn't help myself when we were only 45 minutes from Fayettevile, AR - headquarters for Wal-Mart- to drive up on the way home and explore. Sure, my grandparents took me there when I was younger, but did it mean much then? No, of course not. My eyes had not yet been opened! ;)

Wal-Mart was originally a 5 and Dime store in the town square, named Walton's. The original building has now been turned into a free museum for those who are interested (ME!!!). Below, Buck and I outside of the original store.. and after the tour- I sure enough made another detour past the little America headquarters (where all the vendors have set up offices just to handle business with Wal-Mart), the main factories and distribution center. Hehe!

I think he got a little 'into' the Wal-Mart tour... He was actually excited to find out that Sam Walton was quite the avid bird hunter. He actually said, "See, I've never met a bird hunter who wasn't a good man." He went around and checked out pictures of Ol Roy, Sam's truck, Sam's dog kennels, his trophy birds and every piece of hunting memorabilia in that corner of the museum.

He does well "humoring" me, dontcha think? :)

And I'll close with a picture of me 'chillin' with Sam Walton- yes, that's our Sam Stance. ;)

Oh-- a hunting they will go!

Well, as some of you have already seen, and some of you have been dying to see-- here's Sariah's first hunting season highlights!

Here she is checkin' out the goods she brought home! 5 pheasant and 1 mallard.
With Mom..

With Dad... and his gun...

One day while Sariah and Buck were out near the lake, hunting quail.. they stumbled across something rare. At work, I got a text that he 'got a bobcat' with an attached picture. When I got home later that night, we took all the pictures.

Here Buck is holding it up, it was about as big as Sariah. She didn't know what to think of it!

And before all the picture taking was done... he convinced me to gather all the guts I had and pick it up. <> It was the softest thing I had ever touched... almost like goose down feathers! And boy, was it heavy!! Almost 40 pounds!

I'm glad he got me to pick it up though. It's not something I would have normally done (can't you tell by the way I dress I'm a priss?!) but definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I'm kinda glad hunting season is over.. I need a few months between seasons to not see dead things. :)

Sariah's 1st Christmas

So.. I'm only a month and a half behind posting things about Christmas. Eh, it happens.

It was a quiet day in our home... We slept in, made a yummy yummy yummy breakfast (pumpkin pancakes, bacon, eggs and hashbrowns... mmm!) and finally mozied around to opening gifts from each other.

Sariah really didn't understand the Christmas Season. Mommy was always gone working long hours for retail's busiest season, and there was a tree INSIDE! I'd catch her sniffing it, the lights and staring at the stockings hanging by the fireplace... and boxes freak her out. She acts like it's going to hurt her and she stays a good 5 feet away at all times from all boxes that showed up and were placed under/by the tree. Funny pup.

Her Christmas was precious. 3 HuMoNgO bones- bigger than she's ever had- and a new hedgehog. We decided to give them all to her at once and see how she reacted.

So stinkin cute... She gathered all her prized possessions up one by one and hoarded them all on her bed. ;) Including her first duck that she still totes around the house ever so gently.

We love our lil girl! What can you say!
