Thankful Thursday

Today was a big day.. Buck is DONE with nursing school! I am so excited! He has worked so hard to get to this point, and he is ONE test away from being an RN! I count it as now, though! He's done with school.. in my eyes he's my RN!

He had his pinning ceremony tonight... and now just has to pass his state boards. He asked me to pin him- and I was honored. It was so special.

The background surprise: he picked a wedding picture and said a sweet thank you while I was pinning him. (aw..)

And one last 'thankful':
(Rob da jewelry store and tell them make me a grill)
lol.. I love my husband!

Happy Thursday!! :) It's been a good one! I hope it was for all of you, too!

Wishful Wednesday

'I wish' .... I could go back and spend one day working at a job from my youth, and it would be Babysitting!

I look back at high school, I had waited tables, been a sandwich maker at Subway and babysat.. If I could go back for just one day and work a job- it would be as a babysitter.

I love love love being around kids. I'm the crazy chick now that will babysit my friend's kids for free- just because I enjoy it. There's something just 'relaxing' about being around kids, even when they're hyper.

It was the best summer job in high school. I could bring them back to my house and go to the pool. I could play, tan and burn a few hours EASY.

I could fix 1 yummy meal, put in a movie and have naptime.

If it was a rainy day, there was a .50 cent movie just in the next town, and it was .25 cents for kidss. I could spend around $1, and take all of us to the movie.

Those were the days... ;)

Happy Wednesday!

Mayhem Monday

Well! Not as much of a chaotic Monday as the past predicts for me today! It was actually a REALLY good Monday. I hope the rest of ya'lls was, too!

We started off super early- per usual- with a leader meeting and pulls. The day flew by, and before I realized it- it was 5:30. In between time flying, I received a call from my district, Linda. I thought it was about another store I had shown interest in taking, but ... instead; she basically told me I should apply for a store opening in Northern Colorado. I hadn't even tossed the idea around in my mind about that store- as I assumed another MT had already shown interest and would probably land the store. She then proceeded to 'sell' me on the benefits of this store, and why it would be a good match. I told her I would give it some thought and get back to her.

I know, I know. Seems like no big deal, right? The thing is, like I've mentioned before, Linda is not exactly the type to say 'do this' just for the heck of it. She says 'do this' because she has something in mind. And she basically makes the decision for who gets this store... which is interesting, because it makes me think I have a high chance, like 99%, of getting it if I apply for it. Way cool. Way exciting. and I totally don't know what to do.

So, Buck and I were talking tonight (as I called him right after I got the call) .. and I think I'm going to go for it, and see what happens.
There's still another store I have more interest in-- but maybe I shouldn't put all of my eggs in one basket (chickens in one basket? what IS that saying?? hmm..)

So my mind is racing... and in other Monday Mayhem news, I had the BEST night out in a long time. We'd been planning this for about a week now, and Krista, Michele and Shannon and I headed out for dinner at Olive Garden for gals night out. Lovely ladies, lovely time.

I haven't laughed as much as we did tonight in a long time. There's something about being with a good bunch of girlfriends and laughing about whatever! I absolutely love the women I work with.. I am so blessed!! :)

Hope your Mondays were just as wonderful, and the week continues to go well!

Getting to Know You Sunday

It's been awhile since I posted one of these... I think I only did one before, and come to think of it- I don't think I did it on a Sunday. Ha. But Keely creates these every Sunday, and I love them! So here we go again! If you're a new reader jumping over from MannLand5 or elsewhere-- please comment/follow! I love new friends in this bloggy adventure! :)

1. If you could star in any movie genre..what would it be.. romance.. horror.. comedy.. suspense or action?
I definitely think I would pick romantic comedy. I know that's a typical 'girl' answer, but it's me. I'm a softie on the inside, lover of cuddling and sweet notions that no matter how small can make me tear up. ;) Not many people see those tears though, I'm pretty good at blinking them away and moving on. See-I fit the stereotype. Ha!

2. Do you recycle?
No.. sadly.. For Colorado being so green and outdoorsy, they definitely see it as a waste to recycle. Ugh- that's when I miss Florida. However, I did learn recently a cool way to recycle paper and turn it into drawing pads for kids.. I'll post about that soon!

3. Have you ever been to a strip club?
Nope.. I think they're tacky. End of story. My hubs and I would never be caught there.

4. Do you have a nickname?
A few! Ash (original, I know), wifey, Sister Darley, Smash... and Kutcher (sigh) I think that's about it!

5. What's a name you can't stand to be called?
Ashley. End of story.

6. What are your Summer staples?
A weekly manicure, bi-weekly pedi. (I do my own- so it's affordable!)A tan, flips (this season's staples are my Sanuk flips made out of yoga mats, and some blingy Sanuks).. and Otter pops for Buck and I!

7. What was the last thing you bought for yourself?
Urban Decay Heavy Metal glitter liner from Sephora. I know what you're thinking- but it's not tacky, teenage looking glitter! It stays- and I got the opaque glitter so it matches whatever eyeliner or shadow I have on..I just think it's fun to do a tiny line on the top lid. Draws more attention and is so summery fun!I encourage everyone to just try it out!

8. Are you happy with your boob size?
I am, actually. :) and I'm pretty sure Buck is, too!

Happy Sunday everyone!! It IS going to be a GREAT week!! :) Wishing us all that type of week!

Fill in the Blank Friday- Music Style!

Well! It's Friday! Here is FITBF courtesy of Lauren at The Little Things We Do. So fun! I'm so glad it's Friday... I'm ready for days off, and excited to teach a Financial Preparedness course for the Relief Society Activity tomorrow! Buck gets to babysit for all the women-- haha!!

Here We Go:
1. One song that always takes me back to my youth is American Girl by Tom Petty. My mom basically raised me on classic rock, and I always loved that one... It reminds me of summertime in Florida. Mmm!

2. My first concert ever was the Rolling Stones with my mom. I was 15- and what did I tell you- she's a rocker. My first concert by myself was Incubus; my bestie Allie and I went in OKC and we had a BLAST!

3. If I could create my dream music festival I'd want these bands/singers to be there: Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker (Buck and I saw him last October--- AMAZING!!), Colbie Calliat, Creed, Weezer, The Fray, Eagles and good ol' Garth. I think I'd be in music heaven.

4. The best make-out/"boot knocking" song ever is "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" - the Offspring.. Haha. Kidding. I just can't think of a good one-I'm not a music in the bedroom kind of girl, but Buck tends to sing it over and over randomly. Gotta love him.

5. The best concert I've ever been to was a tie between Dave Matthews at Red Rocks, or Darius Rucker at the State Fair Grounds. Such a tie because seeing Dave perform in a place like Red Rocks was breathtaking. Such talent! The Darius concert was amazing, because my entire life I have loved Hootie since they came out (their drummer was from my hometown, came to my music class and signed my levi's cutoff shorts) and Buck and I went to see Darius for a very memorable occasion last year.

6. A memorable musical moment for me was seeing the Eagles in an outdoor concert in New Mexico with my entire family. It was their 'Farewell Tour 2004' and my siblings and I were at the point we could just chill, hang out and enjoy it together... Everybody drove from whereever they were and we enjoyed a very fun weekend together. (Disclaimer: This is a third place memorable moment, first being the Darius concert ;) )

7. The song on my iPod that's getting the most play these days is "Rain" by Creed. They started playing it on the satellite at work and I am in LOVE! Best song out in awhile. Second place goes to Carry Out by JT. He has a way of pumping you up with silly lyrics.

That's it for now!! Happy Weekend!!!!

Thankful Thursday

Thursday yet again!! :)

I'm sooo thankful for:
The Atonement of Jesus Christ. That He suffered so I can live.

The Miracle of Forgiveness. That I can be forgiven for things I've done or thought, and can go on to be a better person. So that I may forgive others, and we can all be a little happier. A life without grudges. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
Amazing Book btw! Check it out!

Blessings. I'm so grateful for everything in my life.. I definitely have trials- but they could be so much worse. I love that my life isn't super difficult (only as difficult as I make it!) I'm grateful I have a husband to turn to in times of trial and need, and in laughter and love. I'm grateful for family that supports us, and friends that entertain us. I'm grateful to have a job, and one I love- and it doesn't hurt that today is payday! ;)

Make sure to check next week's Thankful Thursday- it's gonna be a good one! :)
Happy Thursday!!

Mayhem Monday

It was yet another eventful Monday. I've decided that it is just something I should expect come Monday mornings. I never dread them, I actually really like Mondays, but they are always bound to be chaotic.

Last Monday, we started the day EARLY--- like at work, ready to go at 7am. *yawn!* Leader meeting at 8-8:30, cut short so we could get out on the floor. 8:30 we start the to-do list, and the countdown is on- 2.5 hours to go! We changed out 2 walls merchandising, finished the department tracker and deep cleaned the counter area. 10am gates open, and 11 am- in walks Linda, our district manager with 2 other MTs.

This lady is amazing. She's been with the company for 23+ years, and started as part-time sales in college (like me!). She has 8 states of stores she is over, and the woman travels more than anyone I've ever known. And she is ENERGETIC. Like, ramped up caffeine intake energetic. She never stops moving fast, thinking, multi-tasking, teaching and coaching. For the 6 hours she was in our store, your mind is just opened! You look at things in a new light, and learn ways to make your job easier.

But by the end of the day- you are tired! And when it's time to go home after she leaves, you are sooo ready. However, this was not the case this week. Our assistant/closer had a toothache/pull/infection thing going on-- so that leaves myself and Krista to do an open to close. Boy, I was wiped by the time 9pm came around.

This Monday, started at 8 am for the leader meeting, and chugged right into pulls for 9-2. (Pulls are basically the worlds biggest scavenger hunt you can play every week as an adult ;) and get paid!) From 3-5 I taught our assistant the ins and outs of forecasting, scheduling and payroll. Then stuck around to begin new hire training till 6, and went home. Much better Monday, although still chaotic!

Happy beginning to the week! :)

Fill in the Blank Friday

My third FITB Friday! Courtesy of Kaitlyn at Life of a Busy Wife

1. The first thing I do in the morning is check the clock to see how much time I have to dilly dally, make a break for the W.C., and hop in the shower.

2. Every night before bed I turn on the electric blanket on my side (9x/10 Buck's already in bed and his side is already on...), turn my blackberry onto bedside mode, and say prayers.

3. My favorite thing to do when I'm having a bad day is buy a pretty shirt, necklace or bracelet (if I'm at work), and come home to eat yummy food and get on blogger. The blogs I follow have a way of lifting my spirits. :)

4. Something that makes me cringe is spiders. Ew. As inhumane as it is, I've actually killed one by spraying it with lysol so I didn't have to touch it. Blech.

5. Social situations make me happy. I like being around people, I like laughing and getting to know others..Although, there is nothing better than it being just Buck and me.

6. I like to collect clothes, I guess! ha..I try not to collect anything- but I do tend to accumulate clothes in my line of work.

7. Weekends are for r&r, short work days (if I work Saturdays), church and Sunday afternoons with the hubs.

happy Happy HAPPY Friday, all!!! Is anyone as relieved as I am??

Thankful Thursday

Gosh!! This week has just FLOWN by! I missed my own Mayhem Monday... Which it was!! I missed Wishful Wednesdays... and here it is Thursday!

So here are three things I am thankful for:
Soft things:

Like this blanket I'm cuddled up in right now! It's perfect after this week...

Fluffy down pillows:

Electric Heated blankets to sit on:

I'm sick. I know. We have 80* weather outside (now it's starting to rain, thunder and lightning -- but it sounds beautiful!), I went tanning again, so I'm slightly pink and warm... but I love laying on top of the blanket with my soft one on top of me; leaning against fluffy goodness. I love being warm- what can I say!

That's it for me today! :) Happy almost Friday!! :)

Something about warm weather...

It's gotta be something in the air, water, weather-- something! But it just always has a tendency to make me want to revisit a bit of my childhood.

Remember when these weren't just for packing?

My mom (bless her heart) never let me jump, pop, twist, destroy, be unreasonably noisy with these lil guys. Something about being a well-mannered child that I don't think I've nailed to this day.

So today, after my half day of work- I came home and started purging 'crap' around the house.. I ran across bubble wrap. Here's a play by play:

Ashton: Hey Buck!
Buck: what. (annoyed because I've said the intro to this conversation 10x already)
Ashton: Hey- you need this?? (holds up bubble wrap by the door to his office)
Buck: No, guess not.

Ashton proceeds to drop it on the ground, and jump up and down recklessly while Sariah *jumps* up from her nap and tries racing out of the room which turns unsuccessful as her little paws can run on the wood floor without slipping numerous times.

End play.

Man, nothing like jumpin on bubbles to brighten up your day. I love acting like a little kid!

P.S. Buck then later got sad because when I was done, he grabbed it to twist and pop some more--- but alas, I got them ALL! Score!

Happy Tuesday!

I just thought this would be a simple post, and a little more insight to me! :)

Here's 5 Things I'm thankful for:
1. My Husband... my eternal companion.

2. Lil' Sariah- light of my life ;)

3. My Health...
LOL.. Courtesy Google Images

4. My amazing career.
The inside of my store a few months ago... :)

5. Best Friends ---> like these!

Wishful Wednesday

Well! I'm on another bandwagon. ;) I stumbled across Kelsey's Blog, The Seattle Smith's and she does the cutest Wednesday theme. I figure, as long as I'm trying to blog daily- I can play along with some themes.

Questions for this week:

I wish' .... I had the dedication to
stay on one particular diet,
and it would be just eating right!

Have you ever been on some crazy diet you regret?
What are your thoughts on dieting and/or healthy eating?

I might get blog-slapped for saying this, but I've actually never been on a diet.
At this point in my life, I am lucky enough to have a wonderful metabolism. If I were to ever diet, I might end up looking like this:
Uh... Ew.

I do know, however- this lovely metabolism won't last forever. Knowing that, I need to really continue to eat a little healthier each week.

I'm so-so with meal planning, but a problem I run into is that, I cook SUCH LARGE portions that one meal will last Buck and I almost a week. Crazy, huh?

The other thing I need to get better at is preparing more veggies and fresh fruit. That would be the healthiest addition to our diets, and if I just went to the grocery store once a week to get those freshies- I know I would cook with them! I'm just so stubborn and budget-frugal that I honestly only make one trip to the grocery store a month, and maybe one mini-trip to Loaf n Jug for milk or other randomness.

All in all, although I've never been on a diet; I guess the answers to the questions are in the ramble above. But also, I don't really support dieting unless it's counted to eat smaller portions of healthier foods, and exercising more. I'm just old fashioned like that I suppose. I'm still a fan of that ol' food pyramid :)

Happy Wednesday! 2 Days till Friday!

Mayhem Monday Anyone?

It's totally been one of those Mondays.

It wasn't a bad day, just a long one- but not long enough. You know what I mean?

Mondays are typically long for me, but this morning I was at work an hour earlier than usual- 7 am. I had planned on leaving around 4, latest 5. However, one of the fallbacks of working in my field is if someone calls off- you as the manager have to cover it. It happens.

So, I ended up staying till close- which is 9PM, and we didn't get out till 10. I really don't mind, and my job is so high energy and paced that I wasn't (and still am not) tired-- I guess the mayhem part of today is just that although I got a TON done at the store today, and I feel good about it, there is just so much more I wish I could do.

I'm the type of person that hates to leave a project unfinished, but the thing about this job is that there is always more to do. I love visual merchandising, but it changes on a weekly basis- so because of that, I have to learn that today is only Monday. Tuesday will get another section of the revamp done, and Wednesday and Thursday and Friday will, too. It's hard to be Type-A and just walk away. But if I didn't, I'd stay at that store 24-48 hours until it was completely visually redone. I'm sick, I know.

So after a day like that- all I want is a little bit of this:
(please excuse the blurriness- I was laughing, but it was the perfect moment last night!)

So, I'm off to repeat that moment! :)
Here's to wishing you all many moments just like that!

Friday, April 2, 2010

I'm not HERE today!

Happy Friday all!
